Jon Amos

Jon has 40 distinguished years of sporting experience, mainly involved with Disability Sports and International sports organisations; he progressed from Developmental to Elite Level sport by coaching himself, at the same time dealing with many of the challenges and obstacles that both sport and life present.

As a Paralympian, and Paralympic Coach of top Paralympians and World Champions, he experienced the exhilaration that accompanies winning, to the total and utter dissatisfaction of underperforming. “You deal with it and then move on,
because you have to and that’s what any true Elite Performer, or anyone else one at the top of their game, in sport or business alike, needs to do, if you are to stay ahead of your opposition” he says.

Jon has over 39 years of voluntary and charitable work under his belt and including being the current Chairman of the IPC [International Paralympic Committee] – World Para Powerlifting Sports Technical Committee and Technical
Delegate for the London 2012 & Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, which involves with dealing with around 85 sporting nations and its leaders, and their served 2 terms as a Trustee or Director of the British Paralympic Association, The British Wheelchair Sports Federation and The English Federation of Disability Sport and was also Chairman of the South West Disability Sports Board, all of which further expanded his experience, knowledge and skill sets of Leadership and Business in sport.

Jon was South West Sports personality of the year 1993 and awarded Coach of the Year Awards 2003 by Sports Coach UK [in the same year as Sir Clive Woodward] and in 1997and 2007 by the British Wheelchair Sports Foundation [Wheelpower]

Amongst other achievement’s Jon was the first person to ascend Mt Kilimanjaro, the World’s largest freestanding Mountain, – in his wheelchair, which was filmed / documented by BBC and a book ‘The Roof of Africa on Wheels’ was written.

Jon was also the first person to hand-cycle 3000Km across Australia, from Darwin to Adelaide, again filmed and documented by the BBC.

Jon utilises many of his life experiences [this far] as motivational topics when engaged to speak, whether it be at schools, international workshops or seminars, and or at larger business functions.
